Is not working with RemoteTech

MechJeb does not work for me when the root part of my ship is an unmanned RemoteTech part. I have the following mods installed: Mechjeb, RemoteTech, RemoteTech Probe Compatibility, and RemoteTech Command Pods Compatibility.

If the root part is unmanned and RemoteTech, Mechjeb refuses to work. I get the menu and can activate the ascent module for example, but once I hit launch it does not take control of the throttle or steering. However, it does control staging properly if I enable the ascent module and throttle/steer manually. This is a bit off though because it seems like it stages if it thinks that my rocket doesn't have enough speed at launch (if I'm taking off too slowly, it stages).

Additionally, the MechJeb command pod doesn't work. I've never actually used it before but tried it after testing after this issue, but it doesn't even let me control throttle, engaged or not.

This is a bummer because MechJeb is great for getting very exact orbits (like keosynchronous orbits) which is necessary for a nice relay network.
